“Books and stories allow children to build possible futures.”
- Sir Harry Burns
This year, we will be going back to basics to champion the power of picture books. This conference will explore how books from birth are a key part of helping children form their world view, and help shape their identity. Picture books are crucial in modelling behaviour and situations, communicating diversity and promoting children’s rights.
We’ll be inviting experts and researchers, as well as the creators of picture books themselves – publishers, authors and illustrators – to discuss how picture books build futures, communities and families.
The day will also include afternoon workshops and creative skills sessions focusing on a variety of topics including children’s rights, storytelling and supporting additional needs through picture books.
