Description

Management of research data is relevant to all doctoral students. What type of data one works with depends on the research topic and choice of method. The workshop provides an overview of the different parts of research data management. A focus will be on data management plans since more and more research funding agencies require them. Data management plans can also be an effective data management tool for an individual researcher or a research team. A second focus will be on how to find open research data for re-use. We will look at Data Citation Index in Web of Science as well as some data archives. The workshop aims to facilitate the daily work with research data.

Learning outcomes:

• Get an overview of research data management during the research process
• Have a basic understanding of what a data management plan is and how it can be used
• Understand how research data is made available in different ways
• Be able to find relevant data archives and data sets
