Description

THE PRINCESS AND THE PEA

A Greater Manchester Music Hub Vocal Project, coinciding with World Book Day

Sue Nicholls, a specialist music educator in EYFS, has written a 6 song musical project based on the traditional tale of The Princess and the Pea. The project begins with a CPD session (compulsory), delivered for the teachers of all the classes involved and for staff members from the GM Hub. This training will introduce the songs, narration and the accompanying resources for further classroom activities based around the story.

The songs will then be taught within school over the next few weeks in preparation for a performance. As this is a holistic project, the hope is that schools will also use the cross-curricular ideas and resources to engage the pupils back in the classroom.

The project culminates in two interactive performances involving 700 pupils in each workshop. The class and teachers will be expected to dress up as characters from the story (to be arranged) as will the staff and musicians!
