About this event
The South Devon and Tavistock Railway Company launched on 21 June 1859. It offered a railway service from Plymouth to Tavistock and was extended to reach Launceston in 1865.
Under Dr Beeching's savage railway cuts, the line closed with "little more than a snowy whimper" on 29 December 1962. Subsequent demolition has left but a few traceable remains to this once important rail link for Tavistock.
Join Stephen Fryer for a visit to these former sites.
The walk will be approximately 2 hours. Please wear suitable footwear for going off the beaten "track"
