Are you concerned about the state of our countryside and the impact of litter on local wildlife and our beautiful environment? Do you want to take action, meet like-minded people, spend time outside and make a difference in your community?
Then join Pick N Chips Litterpicking Campaign at The Real Food Cafe!
The Real Food Cafe started organising regular litter-picking events in 2021. Since then and over the course of 31 events, in excess of 7 tonnes (over 1,250 sacks) of litter has been collected by over 446 volunteers, aged from 1 to +81.
The battle against litter is nowhere near over and we need your help to keep our stunning Scottish landscape looking beautiful.

Sign up for one or all!
Our most recent events became so popular, that they became difficult to manage with the number of volunteers turning up, which is why we're asking volunteers to sign up.
We also slightly changed the starting time and during the main tourist season, the events will take place during the week instead of the weekend.
Time:
12pm to 2pm.
Volunteers who have never attended our litterpicking events are asked to arrive by 11.30am for a safety briefing and everyone is invited to join us for a complimentary hot drink & cake to get us all energised.
Location:
The Real Food Cafe, Tyndrum
What to Expect:
The litter-picking events are inclusive, and everyone is welcome to join - children, dogs, adults.
Meet-Up
Volunteers arrive at the venue from 11:15 and will receive warm drinks and refreshments. We'll be serving our freshly made scones to give you an energy boost.
Volunteers who have never attended our litterpicking events are asked to arrive by 11.30am for a safety briefing.
If you’ve attended before, you don’t need to arrive until shortly before 12am depending on how fast you can finish your scone & cuppa and to collect your equipment.
Clean-Up
Volunteers collect their tools (we provide hi-vis jackets, litter pickers and bags for all of our volunteers), get briefed, and go litter-picking, usually for two hours, depending on the weather.
Eat-Up
All of the participants then sit together to share a meal (fish & chips or equivalent) with a drink as a reward from us.
Why Join - The Benefits of Litter-picking:
Litterpicking is curiously therapeutic outdoor activity with no screen time that will benefit our beautiful environment and wildlife.
It will make you feel good and help you create new relationships with like-minded people.
It is also an excellent role modeling opportunity for kids.

About the Campaign:
Pick N Chips is a litter-picking campaign that aims to organise coordinated social litterpicks across Scotland.
The vision is to bring like-minded volunteers together to meet and work as a team and clean up their local community, then enjoy fish and chips and chat afterwards.
Campaign Aims:
- To clean up our local communities
- Help protect our natural environment
- Promote that message that littering is antisocial
- Create welcoming events open to all which encourage mixing and socialisation
- Raise awareness of the important role the Fish & Chip industry plays in local communities
