Organisations and individuals managing buildings of all types and sizes face ever increasing heating challenges against the backdrop of the need to reduce carbon emissions and the huge rises in energy costs. Whether you own or look after a historic building, visitor/event space, community/education centre, charity shop, places of worship, office, residential, or catering facilities the challenges are significant. How do you heat buildings to ensure that occupants are comfortable and the building fabric is maintained in the context of UK net zero targets, UK energy strategy, and increasing energy costs?

Matt Fulford from Inspired Efficiency will present on his experiences of having delivered decarbonised heating solutions in a wide range of buildings, from Grade 1 listed churches, schools, blue light organisations, retail and commercial estates.

He'll share what was done, what worked, what didn’t, and how different solutions were selected to suit different situations and what kinds of barriers needed to be overcome.

The session will outline the solutions used and recommended in estates including energy efficiency measures, improvements to the building fabric and the different types of heat pumps

There will also be any opportunity to ask Matt questions and to join in a group discussion; allowing you to share learning, progress, challenges and questions with other members across the network who are on the same journey.

Matt has over 12 years’ experience in delivering zero carbon outcomes in heritage buildings have created what is thought to be the first zero carbon church in 2010. He is the Energy and Sustainability DAC Member for the Diocese of Gloucester, delivers the church energy audit programme for the CofE nationally as well as the Dioceses of Oxford and Llandaff. Key is the Sustainability advisor for the SPAB Casework Committee and a member of the recently formed Net Zero Carbon and Building Services committee for the Church Building Council. Matt founded and runs his own energy and decarbonisation consultancy, Inspired Efficiency and advises a wide range of organisations including hundreds of schools, a number of police forces, local authorities and corporations.
