About this event

  • Event lasts 6 hours

Spending a day with industry experts, from practical workshops to an exploration of the commercial reality of retrofit, this day is one to offer learnings, inspiration, and challenge to conventional thinking around development and the future of our built environment.

Retrofit, Reuse and Adaptation are the latest buzz words around the world of architecture, development, and regeneration. In response to the climate emergency there is a growing focus on embodied carbon and the ability to effectively reuse and adapt buildings now stretches way beyond the conservation of our heritage assets. Working with leading experts, Wolverhampton School of Architecture and the National Brownfield Institute, we will present workshops and case studies exploring the reality of retrofit. Learn about the common pitfalls and challenges and gain greater understanding on areas like Whole life Carbon Assessments, Material Passports and retrofitting for sustainable operation. We will round off the day hearing from a developer about their shift in focus to explore retrofit as a commercial decision in their development plans and the realities of what that means for clients but also from a design perspective.
