Description

Please Join us for a Special Dress Rehearsal of The Reason I Jump

Welcome to Naoki’s Garden.

Naoki is a non-verbal, autistic, Japanese boy, who was just 13 years old when he wrote the book The Reason I Jump, a one-of-a-kind memoir that demonstrates how an autistic mind thinks, feels, perceives, and responds. Now take a unique journey into his world and meet the magical gardeners of his outdoor maze.

In this innovative adaptation, the book becomes an experience, a mysterious journey through a beautiful outdoor maze designed by renowned Dutch collective Observatorium. There, you will encounter the stories and insights of Naoki’s gardeners and become immersed in his playful world.

This pioneering National Theatre of Scotland work was conceived by award-winning Scottish artist Graham Eatough and created with, and performed by, a group of artists with autism ranging from early teens to 60 years old. A unique opportunity to think about the many different ways that human beings experience life.

Presented by National Theatre of Scotland.

Supported by The R S Macdonald Charitable Trust.

The Reason I Jump dress rehersal is free but ticketed and open from 7pm until 9.30pm. It takes approximately 1 hour to walk through the maze and last entry is at 8:30pm

It is an outdoor maze so please dress appropriately for the weather. The ground is uneven so wheelchair and buggy/pram access is limited. There is some outdoor seating along the way if you need to rest.

The Reason I Jump dress rehearsal is open to all ages.

The Reason I Jump dress rehearsal is entirely autism friendly.
