About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

At the Battle of Prestonpans in 1745, most of the Jacobite soldiers were Highlanders - and many of the local gentry were actively opposed to them. But the division of sympathy was not that simple: this talk explores the fascinating stories of local Jacobite supporters from the Prestonpans area, uncovering untold tales and shining a light on how the conflict affected the community.

The talk, presented by Dr Arran Johnston, will take place in the Battle of Prestonpans Museum as part of the "Beyond the Battle" research project, supported by Historic Environment Scotland.

The talk is part of Scotland's Jacobite Festival.
