Mozart Quintet for Piano and Winds in Eb major K 452
Poulenc Sextet for Piano and Winds Op.100
Nielsen Quintet (wind quintet) Op.43

Mozart completed his Quintet on the 30th of March 1784. After the first performance he was so pleased with the work that he wrote to his father ‘I myself consider it to be the best thing I have written in my life.’ With the masterpieces by Poulenc and Nielsen this will make for a very special concert.

Christopher Redgate studied at Chetham’s School of Music and at the Royal Academy of Music where he
was a prize-winner. His professional career began with several prizes at international competitions.
He performs regularly with many contemporary music ensembles including Exposé, Suoraan, Trio Krosta,
Music Projects/London and Lontano.

The Redgate Wind Ensemble is joined by pianist Helen Davies. Helen studied piano first at the Academy of Music, Vienna, and then at the Royal Manchester College of Music. A busy career has followed as an accompanist, chamber musician and teacher. She has given recitals on Radio 3 and has appeared many times on BBC TV, ITV and S4C.
