(We've just heard that Cafe 1001 will be showing the England match in the downstairs bar from 5pm, so feel free to come along early if you fancy catching both)
The Prometheus viral machine has been one of the most critically successful marketing campaigns for a movie EVER. Teasing fans with future TED talks, cyborg commercials and intergalactic job applications, the well-crafted shorts managed to hint at the themes and dramatic direction of the film without giving away anything plot-related.
At our June Reel Presents screening we’ll be showing all of the virals as well as hosting an EXCLUSIVE Q&A session with the series’ producer Caspar Delaney, so if you have any question about how the Fox they did it all, tweet them here @thereeltweets or email us at email@example.com. We’ll be taking questions from the audience too (if any of you are brave enough to put your hands up), so no monolith will be left unturned.
UPDATE - We now have director Johnny Hardstaff joining the Q&A!!
Of course we won’t be ignoring our regular Signed and Unsigned sections (now christened Reel Scout in tribute to our awesome new site – scout.thereel.net). As always we’ll be curating a smorgasbord of the most visually arresting and emotionally engaging shorts, promos, content, virals and experiments from directors around the world. It’ll be FREE with an entry ticket and you can even have a drink on us – lovely stuff.
Don’t forget to spread the word (all are welcome) and grab your ticket.
We’ll see you there!
The Reel Team
For those who haven’t been before, The Reel Presents is our monthly showcase of the very best work we’ve seen and posted in the past couple of months. Split between signed and un-signed talent (so you lovable production companies can pluck the fresh fruit), we show a fast-paced mixture of short films, pop promos, fashion/experimental films, branded content and anything else screenable and awesome. It’s all projected in the back room of Café 1001 (comfy sofas and relaxed atmosphere guaranteed) and we even pop a bit of dosh behind the bar to help lubricate your sense-receptors. All in all, a good night.
