The Rehma Fund for Children presents its Annual Comedy Bonanza on 24th May 2017!

After the roaring success of the first two Rehma Fund comedy nights, we're back again! Now firmly established a regular fixture, the line-up is as amazing as ever - take a look at the brief biographies below. If you attended the previous comedy nights, you'll attest to the way the comedians performing had everyone laughing so hard that we could barely breathe. We're looking forward to an encore!

Doors will open at 6pm for a buffet dinner which is included in the ticket price. The show itself will begin at 6.55pm.

Also included in the price are 5 automatic entries into a raffle for some superb prizes! Examples include High Tea for 4 at Cinnamon Bazaar (opened by Vivek Singh, CEO and Head Chef at Cinnamon Club,), a meal for 2 at Padella (run by Jordan Frieda - a protege of Jamie Oliver), signed Arsenal Memorabilia, a hamper of Champagne, a DVD recorder - and others!

Imran Yusuf as MC

With the fantastic host of our first two events, Mark Dolan, deciding to gamble that going on the game show The Jump wouldn't leave him with any broken bones, we needed an equally charismatic host to step in and leave the crowd always wanting more.

Step forward, Imran Yusuf!

Imran is renowned as a skilful raconteur who seamlessly weaves socio-political satire with heartfelt introspection in his charmingly endearing trademark styling. Languid, punchy, cheeky and utterly loveable, Imran has established himself as a truly unique voice in the world of comedy. A regular fixture at the Edingburgh Festival and Comedy Store, Imran has also performed on Michael Mcyntire's renowned Comedy Road Show and undertaken several solo UK-wide tours. I've seen him live, and stalked him on youtube, and cannot wait to see this man run the show!

Paul Sinha

Medically qualified Paul Sinha is now a critically acclaimed international stand-up comedian of many years standing who first achieved media recognition in 2006 when his solo show Saint or Sinha was nominated for the If.comedy (formerly Perrier) award at the Edinburgh Festival. Since then he has been something of a fixture on Radio 4 with the series Paul Sinha’s Citizenship Test and Paul Sinha’s History Revision as well as shows on cricket, the 2012 Olympics and Magna Carta. He has also made frequent appearances on Radio 4 favourites News Quiz, Just a Minute, and The Now Show and has registered several victories on Radio 5’s feisty weekly sports panel show Just a Minute.

As a live comic, Paul has performed various extremely well-received solo shows, has had two national tours, performed in Beijing, Munich, Amsterdam, Barcelona and Tokyo as well as many non-Olympic cities across the globe. He appeared in the first two series of the Stewart Lee curated TV show Alternative Comedy Experience and in 2014 Paul was voted “Best Club Comedian” in the annual Chortle Awards.

In addition to this Paul has carved out a further career as a professional quizzer, attaining grandmaster status in 2014, reaching a career high UK ranking of 7 in 2015. Since 2011 Paul has been one of the regular “Chasers” on ITV’s award winning quiz show The Chase.

Eshaan Akbar

A regular fixture and crowd favourite at the Rehma Fund comedy night. We're delighted to welcome back Eshaan! Another act back by popular demand and specifically requested by members of the audience from last year. In a short space of time, Eshaan has made waves on the comedy circuit. Within a year of starting stand-up comedy, he was a Finalist in the prestigious  “So you think you’re funny” (SYTYF) competition for new acts at the Edinburgh Fringe Comedy Festival. SYTYF has kick-started the careers of dozens of the country’s top comedians including Peter Kay, Johnny Vegas, Alan Carr, Rhod Gilbert, Russel Howard and many, many more. He also won the esteemed Picadilly Comedy Club New Comedian of the Year award in 2016. To top if off, he is now supporting star comedians Dane Baptiste and Hal Cruttenden on tour around the UK, and is also warming up for Micky Flanagan. When you see him perform, you’ll see why he’s in such esteemed company!

Simon Evans

Hugely popular both in comedy clubs and on the after-dinner and corporate circuit, Simon excels in routines that are adult in the best sense of the word, prompting reviewers to describe him as demonically dry.

He is well respected by his peers and is the writer of choice for huge names such as Dara O Briain, Sean Lock, Jimmy Carr, Marcus Brigstocke and Lee Mack, among others. He is a familiar voice on BBC Radio 4 as a regular on The News Quiz, The Unbelievable Truth and Armando Lannucci's Charm Offensive. Simon has also anchored and written seven series of the news satire The Way It Is.

He’s also laboured bravely in the face of ultimately overwhelming opposition as part of the Comedians’ team on University Challenge - The Professionals.

Rahul Kohli

Rahul Kohli is a fast-rising comedian, Only having been pursuing comedy for 24 months, he has already impressed in a number of competitions, having been a Fosters So You Think You're Funny Semi-Finalist 2013, a Fosters Golden Jesters Comedian of the Year 2014, and a Harrogate Comedian of the Year 2014 Finalist . His debut solo Edinburgh Show was rated 4* by Joshua Phillips, editor of the Oxford Theatre Review, and was described by the as "Genuinely inventive...fresh, funny and meticulously contemporary." Having already been billed with acts such as Lee Nelson (BBC 3), Mitch Benn, (Radio 4), Kai Humphries (The Comedy Store), Fern Brady (8 out of 10 cats, Stewart Lee’s Alternative Comedy Experience S2) and Will Mars (Joke Thieves), in such a short space of time, this is definitely a comedian on the rise to look out for.

And one more TBC...

Watch this space for one superlative name to be added to the line-up!

The Rehma Fund UK

The Rehma Fund for Children has been established in memory of Rehma Sabir, our beautiful, joyful daughter, who passed away days after her first birthday in January 2013.

The Fund’s mission is to Equalize Access to Healthcare for All Children, Everywhere. The objective of the fund is to support and work with charitable causes that further this mission.

It is impossible to describe the heartbreak of losing one’s child. During the difficult time spent in the hospital by Rehma’s bedside, we experienced first hand what a difference a high quality healthcare environment made to our precious daughter and eventually to us when it came time to say goodbye.

We believe that for each child, high quality healthcare should be a right, not a privilege. We created The Rehma Fund out of a need to channel our grief at the loss of our daughter into something productive and positive.

‘Rehma’ means Mercy. Rehma was, and continues to be, a mercy and blessing in our lives. Please join us in honoring our daughter’s memory by striving to make high quality healthcare available to all children. Please help us to give other children the opportunity to continue to love, smile, laugh and spread mercy as Rehma did.

Thank you for your kind thoughts and support,

Nada Siddiqui & Sameer Sabir
