The Rescuer Archetype: The Joys and Pitfalls of Wanting to Help Workshop with Eleanor O’Rourke

Many healers and empaths have the Rescuer archetype which is why they are drawn to their profession. The instinct to reach out to help our fellow human beings, when they are in need, is a noble one.

However this sometimes has a down side. Our helping can become a habitual response - something we have to do in all scenarios, which can lead to burn out. Our helping can come from a wounded aspect in ourselves (the Wounded Healer archetype) whereby we unconsciously seek to complete a storyline in our own psyche, which again can lead to burn out.

Learning Objective Participants Can Expect From This Event

  • An understanding of archetypal dynamics and unconscious patterns.
  • How our early childhood conditioning influenced the roles we now play out unconsciously.
  • A deep dive into our relationship with the Rescuer archetype.

Who is This Workshop Appropriate For?

  • Therapists and anyone interested in exploring their own archetypal dynamics.

How May This Workshop Impact Your Practice?

  • By understanding these patterns in ourselves, we can help others through their own archetypal dynamics.

Eleanor O’Rourke

Eleanor is passionate about connecting people to the intuitive, creative aspects of themselves that have often been left behind or under valued on the way to adulthood.

She believes everyone has a creative soul but many have lost touch with this aspect of themselves – either through willingness to conform, desire for validation or fear of vulnerability.

People everywhere are becoming aware that our methodical minds are too slow to cope with the ever-increasing speed at which the world is turning. We have an epidemic in stress, anxiety and depression. Exhaustion is the order of the day.

The answer lies in accessing our inner creative flow. Doing this reduces our reliance on adrenaline and increases our intuitive decision-making capabilities.

Eleanor has over thirty years experience in a variety of modalities including NLP, Psychology of Vision and is a certified archetype consultant trained by Caroline Myss. She is the author of four books on various aspects of the creative process.

  • 40 Days 40 Nights – one woman’s quest to reclaim her creative mojo.
  • Breakdown – a rebel’s take on depression.
  • The Freedom Project – how to find contentment in a crazy world.
  • Flow without the F*ckery – wake up your killer creativity.
