The Revision Retreat: Find Flow & Focus and Ace Your Exams
Overview
The ultimate study sanctuary to find your flow
The Revision Retreat is where students in Years 10-13 come to get great revision DONE.
Join us for two (non-residential) days to kickstart, re-ignite or level up your revision this Christmas!
We use the term "scholars" to refer to all students/pupils who attend the Revision Retreat.
The perfect place to unleash effortless revision productivity
The retreat helps scholars fly through tonnes of great independent study, through a potent mix of:
- A calm and focused atmosphere, away from the distractions of home.
- A structured, expert-crafted timetable that we all follow, so you get the right blend of focus-time and brain-breaks to get tonnes done each day.
- Top support and encouragement from William and his team of retreat tutors.
We expect the Revision Retreat to help scholars to have improved revision habits they can take home beyond the retreat itself too, whether that's a heightened ability to focus for longer stretches, some top tips to fine-tune their approach to their learning, or simply a daily routine for studying they can stick with.
How different students will benefit from the Revision Retreat
Many students find it a struggle to stay motivated and overcome procrastination in their revision.
At the Retreat, we'll help you get moving and stay consistent at the Revision Retreat with the help of our structured timetable and supportive environment.
Others are ambitious and want to maximise their productivity.
Here at the Retreat, you'll discover a new “top gear” for how much progress you can make each day – though all while maintaining the balance and not over-doing it.
Some can feel anxious or overwhelmed about their work.
Find peace and purpose in your exam prep in the supportive surroundings of the Revision Retreat.
You will be amazed by how much you get done at the Revision Retreat - and how effortlessly it all happens!
Feel inspired by the scholarly surrounding of Leighton Park School's gorgeous Grove library and study centre
We will offer a range of spaces for scholars on the retreat to choose from, each with a distinct "vibe" and suiting different learning preferences, needs and moods:
1. "The Library" - our principal study space, offering a quiet and scholarly vibe.
2. "The Study Lounge" - a more relaxed space, which is great for collaborating.
3. "The Exam Hall" - we will go to considerable lengths to simulate a full-blown exam hall experience, with exam-style seating, exam-hall rules and an invigilator keeping timings. A next-level option to scholars wanting to put themselves through their paces with an ultra-realistic past paper experience.
Having a bad day? Hitting a buffer? The chillout space is available throughout the day for scholars just needing to take a beat to breathe and reset.
Check out the video tour of the space we'll be using for the retreat below - NB. footage is shot during a normal school day in term-time, this is not footage of a Revision Retreat in progress, it's just to show you the space we're using. Isn't it lovely!
The little touches: we've tried to think of everything...
The magic of the Revision Retreat will lie not only in the big idea of offering a distraction-free sanctuary and structured timetable.
It will also be in all those little thoughtful touches, the sort of carefully-considered details that make a great event feel truly special.
- Before the day all attendees will be offered the opportunity to have a pre-retreat meet with retreat director William to talk through their plans for the retreat days (and Christmas revision generally) - to make sure they can make maximum use of the time.
- We will weave wellness moments throughout the programme: starting the day with an inspiring message for the day and a short warm-up for the mind, closing with a wind-down led by a mindfulness teacher to help us reflect and switch off at the end of the day.
- Scholars will be encouraged to get moving through the day with a range of options suggested to suit their preferences, whether that's taking a power walk in the shorter breaks, enjoying an afternoon game on the field, or taking part in an uplifting yoga session.
- A selection of core stationery and printing facilities will be available to scholars to ensure a dry pen or running out of blank flashcards doesn't hold up your day.
- Scholars will be allocated to "families" each led by a retreat tutor. Families will include a mix of students from different year groups, and are designed to help all scholars feel fully at-home in the retreat from the moment they arrive, knowing they have a supportive group of fellow scholars to cheer them on, and a friendly and approachable member of staff they can come to with questions.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Revision Retreat this Christmas!
