Event description

Description

The Riff Raff is an event for aspiring authors and lovers of new writing. We hear from five debut authors with a recently published book.

This is your chance to:

* Hear new work from exciting debut authors first...

* Ask questions of authors who only recently made the leap onto Step One of that daunting publishing ladder…

* Snap up signed copies of books...

* Seek inspiration for your own masterpiece…

* And, most importantly, to make friends with people who understand that trying to write a book is HARD.

**In a slight change to the original event, we will now be hosting the night in the upstairs VIP room at Dogstar, Brixton. If you would like any more information about this change, please don't hestiate to email us.

At our December event, there will be Christmas treats and giveaways galore, plus we will be recording the evening LIVE for our podcast. On the night we will be joined by the following five debut authors....

Rhiannon Lucy Cosslett, author of The Tyranny of Lost Things - a nostalgia-popping look at the place past countercultural lifestyles hold in contemporary consciousness, an intergenerational exploration, and a warning against romanticising the past.

Jill Johnson, author of The Time Before the Time to Come - Set between London and New Zealand and intertwining past and present, the novel follows Victoria’s journey as she rediscovers her Maori heritage and embarks on a path of self-discovery.

Chris McCrudden, author of Battlestar Suburbia - a sprawling, hilarious space-epic that's 'festooned with cunning punnery, sharp turns of phrase, and jokes about emojis and the internet, making this very much a comic novel of our times.' James Lovegrove, Financial Times

Sarah J. Harris, author of The Colour of Bee Larkham's Murder - an extraordinary and compelling debut which will make you see the world in a way you’ve never seen it before.

Emily Critchley, author of Notes on My Family - A vivid present tense account of life in a dysfunctional family told by a perceptive thirteen year old girl with a strong sense of irony and humour.
