Event description

Description

The Riff Raff is an event for aspiring authors and lovers of new writing. Each month we hear from five debut authors with a recently published book.

This is your chance to:

* Hear new work from exciting debut authors first...

* Ask questions of authors who only recently made the leap onto Step One of that daunting publishing ladder…

* Snap up signed copies of books...

* Seek inspiration for your own masterpiece…

* Discover how each of these authors got published...

* And, most importantly, to make friends with people who understand that trying to write a book is HARD.

****************************************************************

May's event will be co-hosted by Kate Leaver - author of The Friendship Cure.

On the night we will be joined by the following five debut authors....

Candice Carty-Williams, author of Queenie - a darkly comic and bitingly subversive take on life, love, race and family, Queenie will have you nodding in recognition, crying in solidarity, and rooting for this unforgettable character every step of the way.

Joanne Ramos, author of The Farm - a brilliant, darkly funny novel that explores the role of luck and merit, class, ambition and sacrifice. An unforgettable story about how we live and who truly holds power.

Jamie Fewery, author of Our Life in a Day - One Day meets The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Our Life in a Day is the story of a ten-year relationship told in twenty-four individual hours - and a love story that also explores issues around male mental health.

Elizabeth Macneal, author of The Doll Factory - the intoxicating story of a young woman who aspires to be an artist, and the man whose obsession may destroy her world for ever.

Alan Trotter, author of Muscle - Drunk on cinematic and literary influence, Muscle is a slice of noir fiction in collapse, a ceaselessly imaginative story of violence, boredom and madness.
