Event description
The Riff Raff is an event for aspiring authors. Each month we learn how five debut authors got their books published.

About this Event

The Riff Raff is an event for aspiring authors and lovers of new writing. Each month we hear from five debut authors with a recently published book. The event is hosted by Amy Baker - author and Founder of The Riff Raff, and every month she is joined by a different author co-host. October's event will be co-hosted by Ellen Wiles - author of The Invisible Crowd.

This is your chance to:

* Hear new work from exciting debut authors first.

* Seek inspiration for your own masterpiece.

* Discover how each author got published.

* Interrogate authors who recently made the leap onto Step One of that daunting publishing ladder.

* Snap up signed copies of books.

* And, most importantly, to make friends with people who understand that trying to write a book is HARD.

****************************************************************

On the night we will be joined by the following five debut authors....

Julia Armfield, author of Salt Slow - a provocative short story collection exploring women's experiences in contemporary society, mapped through their bodies.

Richard Lumsden, author of The Six Loves of Billy Binns - a deeply moving and honest debut set in London against the backdrop of the changing 20th century.

Bethany Rutter, author of No Big Deal - a fierce and body-positive celebration of friendship, first crushes and loving yourself from the influencer, editor and fierce UK voice in the debate around body positivity.

Daniel James, author of The Unauthorised Biography of Ezra Maas - compelling and suspenseful, the Not The Booker nominated book follows James as he searches for the truth about a reclusive artist.

Ruby Cowling, author of This Paradise - a rare and beautiful collection of stories about people fleeing towards places or times or situations they hope might be better – trying to outrun their nature, to deny the undeniable.
