Description

This training is funded by Staffordshire County Council. To access this session for FREE you must be a member of Support Staffordshire or Staffordshire Council of Voluntary Youth Services. We reserve the right to charge you for your ticket if you are not a member.

Free places are restricted to two per organisation for this session.

**Members failure to attend without prior cancellation will result in you being charged the standard half day member rate of £45**


Who should attend:

This session is suitable for those new to writing business plans for their organisation or those who want a refresher.

Description:

Why would you need to put together a business plan? This may seem strange for a voluntary sector organisation but it is an important document to enable you to plan for the future and account to your members and funders. It will enable you to understand your market and enable you to be successful in your aims & objectives.

The session will cover:

  • The difference between a business plan and a strategic plan

  • Why have a business plan? What are the benefits?

  • Understanding the terms vision, mission and values

  • What you are attempting to achieve with a business plan – Are you attracting funding? Are you a new organisation? Are you applying for social investment? We will look at ways to write your business plan depending on your reasons for writing one

  • The elements of business plan – this will include different tools such as SWOT and PESTLE analysis and risk management

  • Different presentations and templates

By the end of the training you should have all the knowledge you need to have a go at writing a business plan with a template.


Tutor: Esther Bromley of Support Staffordshire

Esther has worked in the voluntary sector for a number of years as a Project Officer, Volunteering Officer, Training Officer and Development Officer, a Team Leader and is now Support Staffordshires' Development Consultancy Manager. She has successfully assisted groups and organisations with funding applications and has advised on organisational development, policies and procedures. She has been an 'Investing in Volunteers' advisor for 3 years, a national award that is designed to assess and recognise excellent volunteer management practices.
