Dr Umang Patel, Chief Clinical Information Officer at Microsoft UK, is a leading expert in AI and healthcare, blending frontline clinical experience with technological innovation. An NHS Leadership Academy Fellow and active clinician at Frimley Health, he has shaped digital health both in the public and commercial sectors, including at Babylon Health. Dr Patel focuses on making AI tools practical and effective for real-world healthcare, driving improvements in patient care and system efficiency.
Rachel Barton, a speech and language therapist with 30 years’ experience, is dedicated to empowering her profession to harness AI safely and ethically. After 22 years in the NHS, she now works independently in West Sussex, supporting SLTs across the UK and internationally. Rachel has pioneered generative AI use in speech and language therapy, delivered training with Leeds Beckett University, and developed resources with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists, championing responsible AI integration for better patient and professional outcomes
And there will be plenty of opportunity for general discussion and sharing around AI and how you are using it within SLT.
