Re-defining the throwaway culture of the fashion industry.
About this event
Join us to hear how sustainability is at the heart of these innovative fashion businesses. These businesses are passionate about doing things sustainably and the products they are supplying to the retail sector and to consumers.
With more and more people becoming more conscious about fast fashion, purchasing habits are changing.
The fashion industry has a huge impact on global emissions by using natural resources that, in turn, impacts climate change. This event showcases alternative ways that businesses within the fashion industry can operate and have a much more positive impact on the environment.
After hearing from all the speakers we will go into a Q&A with them, to answer any questions that have been asked.
Josh King-Archer, founder of Slowly by Consensus
Slowly by Consensus is a gender-free sustainable fashion brand focused on circularity (a practice based on the principles of designing out waste and pollution).
Our design process is guided by 5 core ideas:
• Production on Demand
• Aesthetic Lifetime
• Environmentally Friendly Materials
• Ethical Supply Chain
• Technical Durability
Kresse Wesling, co-founder of Elvis & Kresse
Since 2005 Elvis & Kresse have been rescuing raw materials and transforming them into luxury lifestyle accessories whilst donating 50% of profits back to charities. For over a decade `none of London's fire-hose has gone to landfill and over 200 tons of material has been recycled. In 2017 they partnered with Burberry Foundation to tackle leather waste. Over the five year agreement they would be saving 120 tons of leather off cuts into new luxury items.
Holly Boxall, co-founder of Trash Planet
On a mission to clean up the planet, our oceans, and make the world a cleaner, greener place. Trash Planet create the world’s most sustainable, recycled, and vegan sneakers. Using as many recycled and organic materials as possible whilst working towards a fully circular recycling model. The end result is contemporary footwear that doesn’t cost the earth but doing a lot to save it.
Please note that joining instructions will be sent out the evening before and on the morning of the event.
We look forward to welcoming you.
