Description

Friday February 23, The Concert Club in Owatonna Presents The Roe Family Singers for another live concert in Jefts Hall on the Camp Pillsbury campus. The Roe Family Singers bring a unique musical sound that is kind of country, sort of hillbilly, kind of a bluegrass, sometimes a jug band, they are always a foot stomping good time band that's too hip to be square but too square for hipsters. They are really music for everyone, young and old. Besides being featured on TV in a full episode of PBS Lowertown Line and receiving a McKnight Arts Fellowship, they've headlined country joints, rock clubs, bluegrass festivals and dive bars with equal appeal at all. We are thrilled that the husband and wife team of Quillan and Kim Roe and their rotating band of award winning Minnesota based instrumentalists will finally make it to the Team Woodrich stage in Jefts Hall. Whatever your musical preference, if you just like to see a fun live band once in a while come on out. The Roe Family Singers are also quite skilled at making their shows a family fun good time when the crowd calls for it. For this concert, don't leave the kids home. Kids up to age 12 are free, and Jefts Hall includes a basement area with plenty of room for everybody when the kids don't feel like watching the show and you do. Tickets are $14 in advance and available at ERA Gillespie Real Estate downtown Owatonna. Tickets should still be available at the door on February 23 for $17.
Opening the concert at 7 PM will be Matt Arthur, a southern Minnesota based singer songwriter. Matt Arthur has just released a new record on the influential record label House of Mercy Recordings. The album and his band includes members of The Blood Washed Band and Roe Family Singers. The album leans heavily on Matt's gospel roots and even includes a couple traditional gospel songs. But it's also filled with more new amazing original folk blues songs that could only come from a blind stubborn man from Ellendale, Minnesota who graduated from Owatonna High School. As always, doors open at 6 pm For more information call 5073904079 or see www.facebook.com/concertclubowatonna
