The Role of An Expert Witness

Brian Clancy is a past President of the Institution of Structural Engineers, as well as being a senior member of the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Chartered Institution of Builders, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Chartered Institution of Arbitrators.
He is a past National Chairman of the Association for Consultancy and Engineering. He was also a magistrate for over 25 years.
He specialises in buildings and structures – designing new projects, as well as assessing, and sorting out, problems with existing buildings. Brian has been in practice for some 50 years. He has lectured widely on the topics, and has written / contributed to numerous books and papers.
Many papers/lectures have given by lawyers as to the duties of the Expert Witness. This talk considers the matter from the point of view of the Expert Witness and is based on 40 years experience of being one occasionally and how the position of the Expert Witness has changed over the years.
