The Role of Health and Social Care in Homelessness
Event Information
About this Event
People who are experiencing homelessness often require access to a range of health and social care services. Research into health and homelessness by the Scottish Government in 2018 revealed that people who experience homelessness interact with certain health services more often than people in the least deprived and most deprived parts of the population. Rapid rehousing and Housing First present an opportunity for Health & Social Care Partnerships (HSCP’s), NHS Boards, housing and third sector homelessness organisations to work together to develop localised solutions to improving the health and wellbeing of people affected by homelessness.
This discussion session will look at the role that health and social care can play in supporting this and our wider response to homelessness in Scotland. We will hear from representatives from the Scottish Government and Health and Social Care providers on the opportunities to work together as well as looking at practical examples of where health, social care and housing organisations have come together to provide services that meet the needs of people who are experiencing homelessness. The session will also explore how partners from across the system can create opportunities for collaboration to provide localised responses to homelessness in their area.
