The Role of the Pupil Premium Governor – Workshop

Date: 19 November 2019 Time: 18.30 – 20.30

Target Group: Governors responsible for the Pupil Premium Grant

Tutors: Marcus Cooper, Primary Adviser

The achievement of disadvantaged pupils continues to be a key focus for many schools. Central to this is the effective use of the Pupil Premium Grant (PPG) to support the achievement of this group of pupils. This course will provide an opportunity for colleagues to consider the quality of the provision within their school and the resulting impact on pupil outcomes.

The course will cover the following aspects in relation to the PPG:

  • What is the Pupil Premium?

  • Accountability within the Pupil Premium

  • The Pupil Premium and Ofsted

  • Research evidence on the effective use of the Pupil Premium

  • What governors need to know about the Pupil Premium

  • The Pupil Premium and Pupil Premium Plus

Preparation by schools:

Delegates should bring the following information with them:

  • An understanding of their current pupil premium funding level

  • A copy of their current pupil premium website statement
