The Room - Informal sharing of work by briggsy
Fri 7 April 2017, 19:30 – 21:00 BST
A visually arresting, poignant and socially relevant piece of work, The Room has been created to explore LGBTQ identities and challenge, head on, the discrimination and hatred directed towards people that are just trying to be the truest versions of themselves.
Drawing from personal accounts of coming out (or not) and dealing with it, this solo performance work combines dance, theatre and performance enhancing technologies to an original score by Lee Affen and Ola (with addiitonal vocals by local young people).
The Room has been supported using public funding by Arts Council England, with additional support from Lancashire LGBT, Salford University, Ludus Dance (Lancaster), UCLan University and Burnley College.
Due to the nature of the performance space there are only a small number of seats available. There will, however be additional performances in Lancaster (14/04/17), Burnley (TBC) and Preston (27/04/17) throughout April and May 2017 (with further dates in Blackburn and Blackpool TBC).
