Event description

Description

Part of the North York Moors National Park’s WalkFest 2018. Our National Park ‘Land of Iron’ project tells the trailblazing story of ironstone mining and railways in the North York Moors –and a whole host of special ‘Land of Iron’ events throughout the year celebrate this extraordinary period. Travel back in time as we explore Rosedale’s industrial past on this 9 ½ mile walk.

Visit the place where the chance discovery of magnetic ironstone led to a mining boom that lasted 70 years and left a monumental mark on the landscape. Some steep and rough terrain will be encountered on this route.

There’s the option to have lunch at Dale Head Farm Tea Garden (not included in the price). Packed lunch required.

Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Sorry no dogs.

Minimum age 14. Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.

Booking essential. For more information call 01439 772738.
