Description

The Royal Automobile Club Lecture Series is an annual event held during London Motor Week. Talks are available to both members and non-members, providing access to some of the biggest names in motoring. This year’s event will be held at the Royal Automobile Club, Pall Mall on Tuesday 31 October. The event starts at 10.30am and the Club is delighted to welcome the following speakers and topics:

With 43 years of world class motorsport experience, we are delighted to welcome Hans Joachim Stuck. Mr Stuck will be discussing his experience of driving the deadly Nürburgring – also known as ‘The Green Hell’ - providing a unique drivers perspective while sharing a handful of his career highlights. With a vocation spanning F1 and touring cars, Mr Stuck was appointed President of the German Motorsports Association in 2012.

Based upon his new book, Dr Craig Horner of Manchester University will be exploring the life of Edwardian racing driver and Napier salesman Selwyn Francis Edge and his unique relationship with the Royal Automobile Club. Using new research sources, this lecture offers the most in-depth examination of this extraordinary pioneer of early motoring.

David Richards C.B.E and Chairman of Prodrive will also take to the stage. Throughout his distinguished career, Mr Richards has been Team Principal for BAR and Benetton Racing teams and he is a former Chairman of Aston Martin. A distinguished rally driver, Mr Richards will talk about the changing face of the world rally championships.

Our final speaker of the day is Oliver Zipse, Board of Management Member for Production at BMW. Mr Zipse will share his insight into the factors that influence car production and award winning car plant design.

There will be an opportunity after each talk to ask questions of the speakers. Buffet lunch included. Places are limited and early booking is advised. Dress code: Jacket and tie. Strictly no jeans or trainers.
