Historical novelist, Anne O’Brien, shares how to give voice to women in the archives.

IN-PERSON EVENT

Anne, in conversation, shares how 3 Paston women came from nowhere to challenge the course of history. She shares insights into how to un-silence the voices of women, which have been hiding in plain sight in the archives. Anne’s historical novel is published this month.

The in-person audience is a ticketed event, you must book a ticket in order to attend this talk.

All in-person events have been subject to a risk assessment and staff will be following COVID safe procedures. If you are visiting the Norfolk Record Office during this period we ask that you please take note of the following:

  • Wear a facemask when inside the building
  • Follow social distancing guidelines
  • Follow the one-way system when entering and exiting the Green Room
  • Use hand sanitizer on entering the building/room
  • The maximum capacity of events is limited, to ensure a space please book using the links below. If you are no longer able to attend an event please let us know.
  • Do not attend an event if you have any of the 3 COVID-19 symptoms
  • We advise you take a Lateral Flow Device test a maximum of 3 days before attending an event

In-person events will only run depending on the current government guidelines at the time. Please check the website in case of cancellations.

There is limited parking on the Norfolk County Council campus, when you book your ticket you will be asked to provide a car registration number if travelling by car.

This is a hybrid event, with a small in-person audience at The Archive Centre and an online audience. You can book a place for the online audience here

Norfolk Record Office (NRO) collects and preserves unique archives relating to the history of Norfolk and makes them accessible to people all over the world. 

 

The events listed here are run from our base at The Archive Centre, Martineau Lane, Norwich.   Free parking is available at County Hall for Archive Centre users. All visitors must report to the security kiosk at the car park entrance to obtain a visitor’s parking pass.

 

For events at Norfolk Heritage Centre, please contact heritagecentre@norfolk.gov.uk, for events at King's Lynn Borough Archive please visit storiesoflynn@west-norfolk.gov.uk. Our staff also attend public events and give talks/run workshops in other locations around the County; from local libraries to village halls and other meeting places.
