Event Information
About this Event
GUEST SPEAKERS:
LIFELONG VALUES THE KEY TO CAREER SUCCESS: John Carbis, Chelsea Pensioner, served in the Royal Engineers and then went on to have a successful follow-on career before retiring to the Royal Hospital in the 1990s.
HOW TO BECOME A FARM MANAGER: Jonny Kerr, Farm manager, served as an infantry officer including operational service in the early 2000s, before leaving to follow his passion for farming. Recently named as an emerging leader at the Oxford Farming Conference 2020, Jonny's story is well worth hearing.
Resettling personnel may also wish to attend the Rural Careers Insight Day earlier in the day: see ruralink.org.uk/courses-1 for more.
This is a rare opportunity to join a gathering of talented ex-forces people seeking a way into the land-based sector. It offers employers intriducitons to potential new staff and information and contacts for resettling personnel.
Free drinks and nibbles!
Last year The Rural List launch event attracted over 90 people and created a supportive community which has continued to meet monthly and launched several new careers in 2019 as well as laying a foundation for several fantastic initiatives by employers, education-providers and individuals all keen to ensure the talents of service-leavers are channelled into the rapidly developing food and land management industries.
For our one year celebration, we are inviting a wide variety of businesses to exhibit and advertise forthcoming vacancies. We will also show-case several focussed resettlement courses which are being launched in 2020 specifically to assist service-leavers to access rural careers.
Come along and see how this network can help your business or your new career. We look forward to welcoming you on 13 February.
