The Samuel Laycock Story (Fleetwood)
Fri 16 June 2017, 14:00 – 15:00 BST
at Fleetwood Library
October 2017 sees the 150th Anniversary of when Samuel Laycock came to live and work at the “Whitworth Institute” on Dock Road in Fleetwood. That building later became the “Fielden Library” and served Fleetwood as a Free Public Library Service until May 1988 when the current Fleetwood Library opened on North Albert Street.
Rita Vaughan, who lived in Stalybridge for many years, has recently undertaken a comprehensive study of the life, family, and work of Samuel Laycock, and has written a book on the subject; the book is entitled "Remembered Still".
Rita will be visiting the library to present a fascinating talk on the life of Samuel Laycock - a must for anyone interested in the history of Fleetwood town.
