In his Keynote Lecture for Centre of Education and Research, Professor Jonathan Glazzard will explore the factors which result in school exclusion and the characteristics of children who enter into the criminal justice system. Jonathan will explore the quality of education in Young Offenders Institutions and the ways in which the ‘revolving door’ of perpetual reoffending can be reversed. He will unpack engagement and disengagement and explore the systemic failures within the prison system which have resulted in what Ofsted has termed ‘a decade of declining quality’.
