The School Inspector Calls
On Wednesday 22 February, alumnus and Life Fellow of Leeds Trinity University Dr Gervase Phinn returns to campus for a public talk entitled ‘The School Inspector Calls!’.
The free lecture promises to be light-hearted, engaging and entertaining, as Gervase reflects on his life and work, since graduating from Trinity College in 1970.
He will talk about his experiences as a teacher and OFSTED inspector in the Yorkshire Dales, the wide range of academic books, children’s poetry and fiction he has written, and warm-hearted tales of teachers, children and schools.
He describes himself as a comedian, author, poet, broadcaster, lecturer, educational guru, after-dinner speaker and ‘born raconteur’ (the Guardian), and The Times describes him as a natural storyteller, combining the timing of professional comedian with palpable warmth and the ability to deliver a message that is more than just a series of jokes.
The lecture will be of interest to anyone involved with schools, teaching and children’s services – but everyone is welcome to attend.
