Event description

Description

Asthma is a huge burden on our society. At least 1 in 11 people in the UK receive treatment to try and control the symptoms, and over a billion pounds is spent by the NHS every year on medication and caring for people with asthma. Deaths caused by asthma in Lincolnshire are at a 10 year high. This lecture will focus on the underlying science behind asthma, particularly focusing on its 3 common aspects: 1) Inflammation, 2) tightening of the airways and 3) changes to the structure of the lungs. Finally, I will give a brief overview of the research currently being carried out at the University of Lincoln and how you can contribute! No matter what your background knowledge this talk will be accessible to all members of the public.

The lecture begins at 6pm sharp and there will be time for questions and drinks afterwards.

For any enquiries at all, please contact College Marketing Manager, John Stacey, on jstacey@lincoln.ac.uk or 01522 835719
