Body dysmorphia affects millions of people, but what exactly is it, and why does it happen? In this insightful talk, we’ll dive into the science behind body dysmorphia, exploring how our minds perceive our bodies and what factors contribute to this often misunderstood condition. We’ll uncover the roots of body image distortions, discussing the complex interplay between psychological, biological, and cultural influences that shape how we see ourselves.
Beyond understanding the "why," we’ll also discuss practical steps on how to manage and support ourselves or others dealing with body dysmorphia. You'll leave with evidence-based insights, tools for fostering self-compassion, and a deeper understanding of the mental health impacts tied to body image. This talk is designed to break down complex ideas in a relatable way, making it valuable for anyone interested in mental health, self-image, or personal growth.
