The Second Annual Graduate School Conference - 3 May 2017
Wed 3 May 2017, 09:30 – 17:00 BST
The second Graduate School Conference will take place on Wednesday 3rd May in the John Lennon Art and Design Building. The theme of the day is ‘researcher resilience’ and a number of speakers and panellists will be on hand to share tips for managing your PhD projects.
The event starts at 9.30 and proceedings will be opened by Prof Robin Leatherbarrow, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research). This year’s keynote will be given by Dr James Hayton, author of PhD: An uncommon guide to research, writing & PhD Life. James will be sharing tips for your research degrees journey.
Newly registered researchers will be presenting posters throughout the day and PhD researchers will be participating in the final heat of the Three Minute Thesis competition. Throughout the day there will be opportunities for you to speak to other researchers about your work; and there will be frequent break out panellists to talk on the theme of ‘when things go wrong’.
Prizes for posters and Three Minute Thesis winners will be presented by the Vice Chancellor at the close of the event.
Finally, 2017 is an important year that marks one the centenary of the PhD in the UK. Help us celebrate this occasion at the Graduate School Conference and share our specially commissioned PhD Centenary cake!
The event is being organised by the PGR Reps with support from the Graduate School. Please contact Victoria Sheppard in the first instance with any queries: firstname.lastname@example.org or tel 0151 904 6478.
