About this Event

Experience Barnsley has commissioned Paul Reed, one of the nation’s foremost wartime historians, authors and broadcasters (BBC Who Do you Think You Are? Timewatch) to present a trilogy of fascinating lectures uncovering the story of Barnsley during WW2. Brimming with local stories of courage and sacrifice, discover what life was like in a borough affected by war. Absolutely fascinating. Absolutely moving. Absolutely not to be missed.

Dates of lectures:

Britain and the Second World War (9th November): An overview of WW2 from a British and Commonwealth perspective including what the war means to us 75 years later.

The People's War (16th November): From Barnsley to the battlefield, this talk explores a war on all fronts.

Oh What A Diverse War (23rd November): Women at War in WW2 and The experiences of women at war and Black soldiers in WW2.

Free but donations welcome.

11am to 1pm.

PLEASE NOTE: Only one ticket is required for all three lectures – we hope you can make them all.
