The Secondary Lead Learner Programme overview
The Secondary Lead Learner Programme is about creating a culture where all teachers in our schools want to talk about excellent and innovative teaching and learning and are excited to try out their ideas in the classroom. The lead learner in each school is an innovator and researcher. Designated lead learners are responsible for ensuring that fellow professionals in their school are motivated and involved in finding solutions to issues related to designing learning for different groups of pupils with a variety of needs.
This is a major initiative for the L.E.A.D. Teaching School Alliance. It is an exciting opportunity initiative to raise the level of innovative, creative and outstanding teaching in our schools. It also gives professional development to the brightest and best of our teachers to make a significant contribution to the development of teaching and learning in our schools and to developing their own skills.
The aim is to create a team of lead learners across the secondary phase of the L.E.A.D. Teaching School Alliance thereby building capacity for the future which can be deployed across schools to sustain the quality of teaching. This will increase the collaborative capital between schools and teachers so that the lead learners can come together to discuss openly issues about teaching and learning and reflect on the impact they are having in the school.
The lead learners develop and enhance their existing skills in teaching but more importantly bring their experience, innovation and research findings to influence others. By receiving specific training, they will develop their skills to be able to work with adults and their peer professionals.
