Event description

Description

In this interactive session, Dr Lucy Andrew will take you on a journey through the history of the world’s most famous girl sleuth, Nancy Drew, with particular emphasis on Nancy’s 21st century incarnations and some of the radical transformations she has undergone during this period.

Alongside a lecture session, there will be an opportunity for you to discuss your own experiences and memories of Nancy Drew, plus a workshop session engaging Nancy Drew texts from various eras. Nancy Drew fans are most welcome to bring along their own texts and memorabilia to share with the group.

Dr Andrew is Lecturer in English Literature and Programme Leader of the English degree at University Centre Shrewsbury. Her research specialisms are in children’s and young adult literature and crime fiction and her first monograph, The Boy Detective in Early British Children’s Literature: Patrolling the Borders between Boyhood and Manhood was published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2017. She has also published on Veronica Mars, Harry Potter and supernatural detective fiction for young readers and is the Co-Editor of Crime Fiction in the
City: Capital Crimes (University of Wales Press).
