An event celebrating the publication of the new Selected Edition of Jan Patočka in English translation
About this event
In the presence of HE Ambassador Marie Chatardová and featuring the co-editor of the book Erin Plunkett and originator of the translation project Graham Henderson.
Doors open at 6.30 pm
I am delighted to report that the new Selected Edition of Jan Patočka has now been published by Bloomsbury Publishers Ltd, ISBN 9781350139091, in a beautiful and colourful jacket, featuring a painting by the artist Hervé Constant.
You are cordially invited to attend a special launch event taking place from 6.30 pm on Thursday 9th June at the Czech Embassy in London.
The event will feature the co-editor of the book Erin Plunkett from The University of Hertfordshire and the originator of the translation project Graham Henderson, CEO of the Rimbaud and Verlaine Foundation.
The COVID pandemic and the war in Ukraine have made the philosophical arguments of Patočka about Europe, civil society, and renewed forms of solidarity more important than ever.
Our speakers will offer their thoughts on Patočka and his contemporary relevance, followed by a discussion and Q&A.
The talks will be followed by a drinks’ reception. Copies of the new book will be available for purchase at a special reduced price.
