Event description

Description

We have some fantastic speakers booked for the SEN Revolution Bedford Event on 9th November 2017 and if you are a parent of a child or young person with special needs we would urge you to buy your ticket now as we will sell out.

Come and hear ANNA KENNEDY OBE - forging a path to autism awareness. Anna was awarded an OBE in 2012 for founding Hillingdon Manor School in 1999 when she couldn't find a school that was right for either of her own two sons one with Asperger Syndrome and one with autism. She has now expanded this to two schools, a college, a respite home and a website with over 50,000 international followers. In 2009 Anna wrote her best selling biography 'Not Stupid'. You may also remember Anna from the People's Strictly Come Dancing for Comic Relief in 2015 which she took part in partnered by Robin Windsor. We are so lucky and priveledged to have her.

Samantha Hale, Associate Solicitor from Simpson Millar, specialises in education law helping secure suitable educational placments for children.

Talk SENse provide tuition, training and support services for Augmentatitive Communication and Assistive Technology and they will be talking about using personal budgets and EOTAS.

You Can Bike Too is a charity based in Cambridge that provides individual specialised bikes for hire for anyone who wants to have a go at cycling.

Come to any one of the SEN Revolution Events across the UK to access the support and information you need to get a clear description of your child or young person's needs, focus on developing their strengths and abilities, ideas and strategies for productive activities to enable parents, teachers and therapists to promote learning, ideas to create safe and secure physical environments at home and school, how to access and encourage integrated therapy and teaching, how to develop close, positive relationships between home and school, how to encourage social care to work in partnership with parents, information about specialist programmes, information about medication and nutrition, access to specialist solicitors, representatives, and expert witnesses and to join the movement to ensure that your child with special needs (and ALL children with special needs) get their needs met.

This community is a soft place to land, somewhere you can share your frustrations and your joys and to ask for support in finding solutions whenever you need them.
