The SEND Foundation Course

Has your child been recently identified as having additional needs? Do you find the systems and support for special educational needs confusing? Would you benefit from a broad overview of how it all works?

This two-part course has been designed to provide an introduction on all the key issues parents/carers will encounter as your children grow and develop. It aims to empower parents of children who have a recent diagnosis, or are undergoing assessment for additional needs, but it will be helpful to any parents who feel they need an overview of the following subjects and issues:

  • Coming to terms with and understanding your child’s diagnosis/possible diagnosis
  • Where to go for information and advice
  • Handling stress and building resilience
  • Gaining support from other parent-carer
  • Accessing benefits and financial support
  • Getting support for your child at school
  • Accessing support through health & social care
  • Accessing other key services and opportunities in West Sussex.

Delivered via Zoom by Jane Cross.

Dates:

Session 1: Wednesday 7th May - 10am to 1.15pm

Session 2: Wednesday 14th May - 10am to 1.15pm

Each session will include a 10-15 minute comfort break

Booking one ticket for 7th May books you a place for both dates of the course - 7th May and 14th May. You will need to attend both sessions.

Please note this workshop is funded by Reaching Families for parents and carers of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities in West Sussex only. It is not suitable for professionals.
