Event description

Description

Onward After Hours is a new series of policy events which combine top-notch speakers, a young crowd and a relaxed atmosphere for debate.

Our first After Hours event is in the evening on Wednesday 27 February, where we will be discussing the most important issue that no-one is currently talking about: the 2019 Spending Review.

We are delighted to be joined by the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Rt Hon Liz Truss MP. Liz has engaged with these questions as a minister in the Department for Education, as Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and as Secretary of State for Justice, and will oversee the upcoming SR in her current role.

So, what shape should the State be? How should public services adapt to the new ways in which people live their lives, work their jobs and consume products and services? What are the long-term fiscal challenges facing the country and how can this spending review prepare? Where are we in the economic cycle and what can ministers do to balance prudence with public appetite for investment and spending?

Please come along to join the debate and give your views.

N.B. We will announce other speakers between now and the event.
