About this event

Other

Glasgow Changing Futures is pleased to invite you to an upcoming in-person event to bring together our diverse community of researchers working in the social sciences, humanities, arts for people and the economy (SHAPE) who have (or hope to have) a particular interest in topics related to Africa. This event is open to University of Glasgow staff in any school who works in the SHAPE disciplines and is interested in topics related to any part of the African continent.

This event is part of a wider Glasgow Changing Futures initiative to develop stronger links amongst UofG colleagues who have research interests related to Africa, identify opportunities to strengthen our leadership in international research, and suggest mechanisms by which the university can enhance and promote our collaborative partnerships with African institutions.

All attendees will be invited to deliver a 2-minute lightning talk on their research interests (optional), network with colleagues, and discuss opportunities in light of the changes in the funding landscape over tea and coffee.

Session Outline:

  • 2:00 - 2:15 | Welcome & Scene Setting
  • 2:15 - 3:15 | Lightning Talks (2 minutes per speaker)
  • 3:15 - 3:45 | Open Q&A / Discussion
  • 3:45 | Informal Networking over Tea & Coffee
