Event description

Description

Join Suzanne Bingham for an illustrated talk exploring the details of what happened on the 11th March 1864 when the Dale Dyke Dam failed and the subsequent destruction, death and injury.

The Great Sheffield Flood was the worst peacetime disaster of Britain’s Victorian age but it led to reforms in engineering practice, the setting of new standards and of course, the reshaping of a large swathe of Sheffield.
