Paula’s workshops are highly practical and clinically relevant courses that provide participants with a clear understanding of the major principles and equips them with a number of techniques that can be used immediately in clinical practice.

This one-day course covers the latest research surrounding the dysfunction of the Shoulder. A very practical course which will take you through thorough ‘evidence-based’ assessments, manual therapy inputs, and rehabilitation, all of which will increase your clinical reasoning and impact on your patient outcomes


◆Defining the types of shoulder pain/dysfunction

◆Recognize signs and symptoms that characterize patients with shoulder pain/dysfunction

◆Understanding the pathophysiology of shoulder pain/dysfunction

◆How to assess patients with shoulder pain/dysfunction

◆How to assess the fascial system

◆Understand the practical application soft tissue techniques and manual therapy technique which impact on pain, dysfunction and performance

◆Understanding when to implement an intervention and when not to – building on clinical reasoning

◆Understand how the body functions as a whole rather than a sum of its parts and how to affect change with this in mind

◆Rehabilitation of shoulder pain/dysfunction

◆Reduce the risk of recurrence

The course aims to present the scientific evidence and the clinical implications of shoulder pain/dysfunction. Following a thorough assessment to determine which outcome measures you may want to use, manual therapy techniques will be taught, practiced and implemented in order to affect change and improve those outcomes. Targeted rehabilitation and self-treatment techniques will be taught in order to increase a patient’s self-efficacy and to reduce the likelihood of recurrence. There will be opportunities to achieve your own personal learning outcomes.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Located 3 minutes drive from Junction 7 of the M56. Come off the motorway and head towards Altrincham on the A56. At the first set of traffic lights, take a right on to Park Road/ Langham Road towards Hale, after approximately 1 mile take a right on to Vicarage Lane, then take your 2nd right on to Hall road. The clinic is on the right hand side above the Pet retreat.

Parking is available directly outside and there is also plenty of street parking available

The closest station is Hale (15 mins walking distance) however the next closest station is Altrincham (5 minutes taxi or bus ride away) which has a good network to Manchester stations. If coming from London the quickest and easiest way to travel is the direct virgin train to Wilmslow station and then Wilmslow is a 15 minute taxi ride away and costs approximately £15.

What can I bring into the event?

1. Plinths are provided as this is a clinic

2. Tea and coffee are provided

3. Please bring a packed lunch (there is a kitchen microwave). The nearest places to buy sandwiches are the Co-op which is just over the road from the clinic.

4. Please bring note pad and pen

5. Please come suitably dressed for a very practical workshop
