About this Event

A Life in Football with guest speaker Martin Keown

Tuesday December 3rd at the Old Bank Hotel, Oxford

We are pleased to invite you to our first Sobell House Business Lunch, which is taking place at the Old Bank Hotel on the High Street in Oxford on Tuesday December 3rd. It is a wonderful venue providing a fantastic three course meal with wine. It’s a great opportunity to meet other local business people and listen to a fantastic speaker.

We are delighted to have Martin Keown as our guest speaker. Martin needs very little introduction. As a professional footballer from 1984 to 2005 he made over 400 appearances for Arsenal winning 10 honours for that great club, playing as part of that formidable back four. He also played for Brighton & Hove Albion, Aston Villa, Everton, Leicester City and Reading. Martin made his England debut in 1992 against France and went on to win 43 caps for the national side over the next 10 years, gradually forming a brilliant defensive partnership with Arsenal teammate Tony Adams at both club and international level. Martin represented England at for major international football finals including the 1998 and 2002 World Cups. Martin also captained England in 2000. He has a high media preference as a regular pundit for the BBC and BT Sport and was the main co-commentator in the recent World Cup Final. He also writes for the Daily Mail. Martin was born and brought up in Oxford and it remains his home to this day

This is a great opportunity to meet and hear about Martin’s footballing career, having played many of the great teams in stadiums all around the world. What is it really like being a professional footballer? What was it like being part of that great Arsenal team under Arsene Wenger? And what’s life like now as a regular football pundit on both television and radio. As well as hearing Martin speak there will also be an opportunity to ask questions. Its going to be a really great event.

Please do join us for what will be a very interesting and enjoyable lunch event. Very special thanks to Martin for speaking and all the wonderful people at the Old Bank Hotel for their generosity and hospitality in hosting our first Sobell House Business Lunch.
