This year the Somerset & Dorset Family History Society Open Day and AGM will be hosted by the Blackmore Vale Group at The Exchange in Sturminster Newton, Dorset on Saturday 24th September 2016. (9.30am-4pm).
This FREE event is for the enjoyment of society members, but, with accesible areas all day for members of the public interested in any aspect of local, military and family history. It features a WW1 and military exhibition area and a "market place" where you can purchase books and related goods and meet representatives from over 20 groups.

1100 Talk: “Assisted emigration from Dorset to Australia 1830-1860 " by Sue Thornton-Grimes (Stour Hall)
1200 Break for lunch providing a chance to revisit the display stands and take a stroll around Sturminster Newton (£7 buffet lunch served in the Chivrick Room at 1pm - advance booking)
1400 Talk: A series of restored films that reveal the Somerset & Dorset folk of yesterday by Trevor Bailey (Stour Hall)
