Event description

Description

Cantores Cotswolds chamber choir invite you to come and hear them sing music based around the theme of the Old Testament ‘Song of Songs’, including motets by the twin giants of the late 16th Century, Thomas Luis de Victoria and Francisco Guerrero; and also the ‘Missa Ego Flos Campi’ by the 17th Century (and undoubtedly talented) Juan Gutierrez de Padilla. Padilla was born in Malaga but moved to – and flourished as a composer in – Mexico. To complement these early masterpieces Cantores will also perform settings of words of the Song by 20th Century or contemporary English composers – John Sanders, William Walton, Patrick Hadley and by the Cantores conductor himself, John Holloway.
