Event description

Description

What is the sound of memories? Which sound do you associate with your grandmother? Come along to a day of singing contemporary a cappella songs dedicated to grandmothers from all over the world! In a fun and relaxed atmosphere you can be part of developing songs together with composer Esmeralda Conde Ruiz. A chance to experience first hand music in the making process and contemporary composition. No musical experience is required. All ages are welcome.

Repertoire: New compositions of a cappella songs for large scale female choir inspired by interviews with grandmothers. In 2014 Esmeralda Conde Ruiz traveled to Florida (United States) to be Ground Floor Farm’s first artist in residence. She interviewed local grandmothers to experience the memory of female voices and translate those interviews into songs. The project was a huge success and the grandmothers urged her to carry on with the project globally. She is now interviewing grandmothers in the U.K. to complete material for a 60 minutes score for large scale female choir to be performed at festivals. Listen to her interview on BBC Radio London here:
