The Southampton Machine Intelligence Showcase 2019
Event Information
Description
You are cordially invited to the Second Machine Intelligence Showcase, organised by the Centre for Machine Intelligence (CMI) at the University of Southampton. Last year's event attracted 200 attendees including representatives from the government (Office for AI), industry and SMEs, and the whole university.
This year’s theme will focus on “Digitalisation: from Silicon to Intelligence”.
Over the last year, the centre has grown from strength to strength with the award of a new £6M MINDS UKRI Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) to train 60 AI experts in the next 5 years, and a new Centre for Maritime Futures (to be officially announed soon).
The Showcase will promote the great work the University has produced in the areas of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Robotics. Our academics, researchers, and students will be showing off their latest work in areas such as Data Centric Engineering, AI for Defence, Machine Ethics, Healthcare, and many others.
Headline speakers this year are:
- Professor Mark Girolami (Sir Kirby Laing Professor and Academic Director of the Centre for Digital Built Britain at Cambridge University)
- Professor Steven Meers (Head of Dstl’s AI Lab and RAEng Visiting Professor at the University of Southampton)
A special evening session will include a 'Women in AI' workshop with key speakers from academia and industry.
